Services Strength and Conditioning

 

Strength & Conditioning services at the NSW Institute of Sport are integral components of the Institute’s Sport Science Program.

They focus on supporting and facilitating the training, preparation and competition of NSWIS athletes in a way that minimises the risk of injury.  

Strength & Conditioning Services at NSWIS operate to provide information and expert advice to the coach and athlete on the development of appropriate periodised training programs.

NSWIS Strength and Conditioning staff:
* Provide advice on the development of appropriately structured training programs and sessions.
* Teach correct and safe lifting techniques and supervise athlete resistance training sessions.
* Conduct general and sport specific conditioning sessions for athletes.
* Are involved in the development of programs for athletes returning from injury.
* Assist coaches to identify appropriate strength and conditioning support for athletes training away from major NSWIS training centres.
* Present new training concepts and applications to coaches.
* Utilise and manage a purpose built, state of the art training facility located in the NSWIS building.
