Four NSWIS athletes were part of the Australian women’s soccer team that finished fourth after being defeated 3-0 by Japan at the Asian Cup in Vietnam.
Cheryl Salisbury, Ellyse Perry, Heather Garriock and Kate Gill all played solidly in the match with Salisbury captaining the side and Gill heading an attempt just over the bar in Australia’s most promising attacking raid.
The Matildas now prepare for their next event, the Peace Cup, in South Korea where they face the USA, Italy and Brazil in the group stage.
