The Australian Men’s Hockey team suffered a narrow loss to Argentina 2-1, after starting the tournament with a 5-3 over win North Korea.
Playing away from home in The Netherlands, Australia will be determined to continue a positive tournament.
Although going down by two goals early to the Argentineans, the Kookaburras fought hard to get a goal back before half-time.
They increased the tempo after the break creating plenty of chances to equalise but were unable to convert.
The earlier match against North Korea was full of momentum with both teams having control of the possession at different points in the match with the Kookaburras converting when it mattered.
NSWIS athlete Eli Matheson opened the scoring in the fourth minute and NSWIS teammate Jamie Dwyer pushed Australia to a two goal advantage to help the Kookaburras take the match.
The Kookaburras will be looking to bounce back against Spain in the next round of the competition.
