Kookaburras come away with draw against Spain

June 25 2008

The Australian Men’s Hockey team struggled to a 1-1 draw against Spain, in the Champions Trophy tournament. Looking for their second win of the competition,

Australia controlled the game up until the last few minutes when they conceded a soft goal to allow Spain to gain the draw.

The Kookaburras went one goal up early in the match thanks to an impressive lead up by NSWIS scholarship holder Jamie Dwyer. As the game opened up the Aussies had many opportunities but failed to add to the scoreboard.

The draw leaves the Kookaburra’s in fourth place, although only one win from second place. They will take on Germany in the next game.
