Beijing bound Athletics team named

Seven NSWIS athletes have been selected as part of the Australian Athletics team to compete at the Beijing Olympics.

Leading the contingent for NSWIS will be reigning World Champion Jana Rawlinson who will be looking to win in her main event the 400m hurdles. Joining her will be Jane Saville who is competing at her fourth Olympics after taking the bronze in Athens.

John Steffenson will compete in his pet event the 400m alongside 22 year old debutant Joel Milburn, who will also join Steffenson in the 4x400m relay team looking to go one better after a silver in Athens.

Youcef Abdi, Lachlan Renshaw and Dani Samuels will all also be going to there first Olympics, with Samuels being the youngest athlete at 20 years of age.

The Australian team size of 41 is the smallest team since the 92’ Olympics in Barcelona.
