NSWIS Paralympic swimmer Peter Leek has begun his Paralympic campaign in style, winning the Men's 100m Butterfly - S8 on the first night of competition at the pool.
The NSWIS had a successful opening night of the Paralympics with fellow NSWIS Paralympians Lindy Hou and Toireasa Gallagher (pilot) winning bronze in the Women's 1km Time Trial at the track.
Leek won his event in an impressive fashion, finishing ahead of three Chinese swimmers in a World Record time of 1:00.95.
At the age of 20 Leek will swim five events at the Beijing Paralympic Games. His achievements are remarkable considering Leek only began competing in the pool in 2006.
