NSWIS Cyclist Lindy Hou

Lindy Hou OAM, (born 18th February 1960) is a star of the Australian Paralympic cycling team. She has achieved numerous gold medals at Paralympic and World Championship meets and she holds many World and Australian records.
 
Hou suffers from a degenerative eye condition called Retinitis Pigmentosa and has been legally blind since 1996. Three years after commencing her cycling career, Hou suffered her biggest set back when she missed selection to the Sydney Paralympic Games. She bounced back in 2001 by winning a gold medal at her first World Cup.

At the Athens Olympic Games Hou picked up two gold medals as well as a silver and bronze medal. In 2006 at the Paralympic World Championships she brought home a gold and a silver medal.
 
Hou has been an NSWIS AWD Scholarship holder since 2002. In 2006 she was a finalist for the NSWIS Female Athlete of the Year and the NSWIS Academic Achievement Award.
