NSWIS Softballer Fiona Crawford

Softballer Fiona Crawford (born February 21 1977) won a silver medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics and a bronze medal at the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000. Crawford represented NSW for 16 years and won six National Championships.

She was a member of the 1995 under-19 Australian Women’s Team that won bronze at the Youth World Championships before making her senior international debut in 1997. She was a part of the 1998 Australian World Championship team who won silver in Japan. She was selected in the 2002 World Championship Team and became one of Australia’s leading batters during the series. In 2003, Fiona helped Australia to secure a spot at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens following the win at the Oceania Olympic Qualifier in March.

Crawford was an NSWIS Scholarship holder from the inception of the NSWIS in 1996 through until 2007.  She was a finalist for the NSWIS Career Development Award in 2004 and 2005.
