
NSWIS Swimmer Chris Fydler
Chris Fydler OAM (born November 8 1972) represented Australia at multiple Olympic Games and World Championships during his 12 year career. Fydler’s finest moment came in 2000 when Australia defeated the United States in the 4x100m freestyle relay at the Sydney Olympics along side team mates Ian Thorpe, Michael Klim and Ashley Callus, setting a new world record.
Other career highlights include winning the World Championships medley relay gold medal in Perth, several Commonwealth Games medals and medals at Pan Pacific and World Short Course Championships meets.
During his swimming career Fydler competed at three Commonwealth Games (1990, 1994, 1998), three World Championships (1991, 1994, 1998), and three Olympic Games (1992, 1996, 2000), winning medals at each.
Fydler was an NSWIS Scholarship holder in the Swimming Program from 1997 until 2000.
